Amber is BUTV10’s first and only bilingual show. We aim to build a platform of cultural exchange, giving viewers a taste of what it’s like to live in both the U.S. and China. Paying particular attention to the international students at BU and in Boston in general, Amber explores discovery and perspective.

    Amber took a look at the crowd crush incident that took place on the weekend of Halloween in Itaewon, Korea, and discussed Eastern Asian’s beauty standard of being thin with a professor and students. Meanwhile, as a new policy in China urging women to uphold “family values,” we gathered different perspectives on the implementation of this new policy. Lastly, the news of Princeton professor Yan Ning announcing her plan to return to China brought forth a dilemma many international students have: whether to stay in the US or return to their home countries after graduation. We discussed this dilemma with a professor, a TA and students with an international background.

    Amber took a look at a suicidal incident in China caused by sexual orientation discrimination and discussed the stigma around sexual orientation. Meanwhile, Amber conducted a street interview to investigate students’ attitudes towards President Brown’s time as president and his early resignation. In the end, Amber reviewed the runway experience of NYFW Spring/Summer 2023 through the eyes of international students who took various roles at this event.

    Amber looks at Trump Administration’s announcement on banning the use of China’s TikTok and WeChat service in the United States. We invite an international relation expert to interpret this administrative decision and ask students to share their insights on the subject matter. Meanwhile, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro gave a speech at BU, which evoked a large controversy in terms of freedom of speech. At the end, we invited students and professors to share their views of consumer behavior on Black Friday and the reasoning behind these behaviors.
