butv10 recognized for excellence in student programming for fifth consecutive year
BOSTON, Mass. – April 9, 2012– butv10, Boston University's student-run television station and website announced today that it’s the recipient of a 2012 Telly Award. Welcome Back, Brotter a sit-com about two wayward friends was selected as a winner in the 33rd annual competition. This year’s recognition also distinguishes butv10 as it marks their fifth consecutive Telly Award in as many years.
“It feels like just yesterday we were freshman in our dorm room, filming something we thought only our friends would watch,” said John Sanderson (COM '13), coproducer of Welcome Back, Brotter. “I still can't believe how far we've come and I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this coveted award." Co-producer Cody Brotter (COM ’13) added, “It’s incredibly humbling and a real honor for a comedy and a show in its first year on the channel. It’s testament to the efforts of our devoted production and writing staff and all of the support we’ve received from butv10."
Past butv10 Telly Winners include On That Point, (2011, 2008), Inside Boston (2010), and Bay State (2009).
“Everyone at butv10 is excited especially the Brotter crew and they should be,” said Assistant Professor Christophor Cavalieri, butv10’s faculty advisor. “That four different productions have received Telly recognition five years in a row reflects the dedication of the entire organization. It also infuses everyone’s commitment.”

On That Point is recognized for excellence in student programming
BOSTON, Mass. – April 15, 2011– butv10, Boston University's student-run television station, announced today that it is the recipient of a 2011 Telly Award. On That Point, the channel’s current events discussion program was selected as a winner in the 32nd annual competition. The shows submission "Living the Dream" explores perspectives surrounding the Dream Act, the legislative proposal to provide permanent residency to the children of illegal immigrants.
This is On That Point’s second Telly Award (2008) and butv10’s fourth in consecutive years. "We’re really proud to win this award,” said Charles Giroux (CAS ‘11), co- executive producer of OTP. Fellow co-executive producer, Gabe Stein (CAS ‘11) added, "Chuck and I have been working on the show since we were freshmen. Winning the award for the second time is a capstone to our yearly commitment at butv10."
“The honor is a catalyst for the entire organization,” said Assistant Professor Christophor Cavalieri, butv10’s faculty advisor. “The Telly recognition amplifies the students’ dedication to craft and their ability to be responsible stewards of butv10. The students are excited and deservedly so.”

Here at butv10, we've been busying ourselves with preparation for the launch of the "Student Shorts" Program. It's an exciting time for the station as we create another platform for Film & TV students to showcase their talents and hard work. It's our belief that this show should, not only exhibit student work, but also create a dialogue between the student body and the channel. After all, the success of this program relies heavily upon student involvement.
With that said, here's a list of the first 13 students and their films featured in the program, complete with a brief description of each:

Jesse Schwartz, "The Fortune Cookie" - guy gets a scary fortune cookie
Leslie Jules, "Rushing Reminder" - a girl reflects on her actions after an insignificant fight with her sister turns deadly
Michael Halpern, "Crossing Paths" - a meeting of destiny between a street sweeper and a lawyer
Michelle Simunovic, "Smile" - a man mourns the death of his girlfriend
Ryan Piccirilo, "Chicken Movie" - one man learns that those mysterious clucks are not coming from his breakfast
Steve Jacobs, "Innings in the Airwaves" - a lonely young man brings a baseball game on the radio to life
Scott Krier, "Honor and Fidelity" - a critically wounded WWII hero bestows a medal upon the soldier who tries to rescue him
Zachary Mandinach, "Untitled" - guy tries to save another form suicide
In addition, the Spring 2011 episode of "Student Shorts" will feature the top 3 finalists from the College of Communications Student Assembly (COMSA) Film Festival, which will be held on April 20th. Submissions for the festival are due on April 13th.

Butv10 will launch a new program called "Student Shorts", which will showcase handpicked student produced, written, directed, and edited short films on the campus channel 10 and website. The first set of student films are from the Fall 2010 Production I and II classes. Each semester, new content will be added to the collection and featured in the show.

Inside Boston is recognized for excellence in student programming
BOSTON, Mass. – April 9, 2010 – butv10, Boston University's student-run television station announced today that it’s the recipient of a 2010 Telly Award. Inside Boston, the channel’s news magazine program was selected as a winner in the 31st annual competition. This is the organization’s third Telly Award in consecutive years.
“I am proud of Inside Boston and butv10,” said Assistant Professor Christophor Cavalieri, butv10’s Faculty Advisor. “Three Telly awards in three years is a significant accomplishment, but what’s more impressive is that three different butv10 programs have earned the honor. I think that achievement more accurately reflects all the effort of the entire organization. The students are excited and they should be.”
This award is a tremendous honor,” said Megan Peet (COM ‘10), Co-Executive Producer for the program. “We could not have done it without each member of our fantastic staff.” Co-Executive Producer, Daniela Guernica (COM ’10) added, “The Inside Boston team has worked very hard throughout the season and to be recognized with a Telly is rewarding and motivating.
